Having the mission of promoting and assuring the integration and improvement of the Brazilian Federal Judiciary instituitions, the Conselho de Justiça Federal (Federal Judiciary Council), or CJF, acts mainly in the promotion and creation of standards for administrative procedures, jurisdictional procedures and the budget administration of these instituitions.
Composed of five ministers of the Supremo Tribunal de Justiça (Supreme Justice Court), or STJ, five presidents of each Tribunal Regional Federal (Regional Federal Court), or TRF of the country and presided by the president and vice-president of the STJ, the Conselho de Justiça Federal is the most important institution in the brazilian Judiciary.
In this context, Cortex, in partnership with an american seach company, developed a pioneer and innovative project for the brazilian government by unifying the jurisprudence database of the Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF), the Supremo Tribunal de Justiça (STJ), the five Tribunais Regionais Federais (TRF) and the Turma Nacional de Uniformização de Jurisprudência dos Juizados Especiais Federais.
Through the Retriever (a bot powered automatic collection platform) and Context Categorization components, both belonging to the Cortex suite of text mining components, it was possible to automate the entire process of collection and classification of jurisprudences for subsequent indexing and recovery via web through the partner company's search tool.
